Proactive measures taken to eliminate potential causes of problems before they occur, based on lessons learned from previous issues. Core concept in 8D D7 where teams ask 'Where else could this problem happen?' and take action in similar areas. Different from corrective action (fixing existing problems) by focusing on preventing future problems in other processes, products, or locations. Extends value of problem-solving beyond the immediate issue. Similar concept to Yokoten but with prevention emphasis.
